Devour in The Times: One of the UK’s Best Outdoor Dining Spots

A copy of The Times newspaper opened to the 2022 article “Table Outside, Please,” featuring Devour at the Dyehouse, sat on a light wooden table — celebrating UK restaurant terraces and outdoor dining.

We still can’t quite believe it

— we have actual copies of the newspaper, and we’re extremely pleased with them. Devour at the Dyehouse is featured in The Times’ 2022 article “Table Outside, Please”, by exclaimed food journalist Andy Lynes, celebrating the UK’s best restaurant terraces and gardens. To see our name there — tucked alongside some of the country’s standout dining destinations — still makes us very proud.

The feature highlights the restaurants where outdoor dining isn’t an afterthought — it’s part of the experience.

A beautifully green outdoor eating space. Wooden tables. Cosy benches. Beautifully tiled walls and wooden box plant pots, create a cosy, outdoor space enclosed by nature. Overhead is a greenhouse roof fit with heaters. Trees and nature set the scene.

For us, that rings true. From the first warm days of spring through to cosy, heaters-and-blankets evenings by the river, our riverside terrace has always been a space to relax, breathe deeply, and savour good food with great company.

Being included as one of the UK’s best outdoor tables — and one of the few from Yorkshire to earn that nod — is genuinely a thrill. It says a lot about what our guests already know: views, atmosphere and a great setting elevate great food into genuine moments.

We’re grateful, delighted, and more excited than ever to see that Times fans, hikers, cocktail lovers and riverside wanderers can discover Devour on their own terms — under open skies, surrounded by hills, with a great meal and a proper drink in hand.

So yes, we bought a few copies — and we’re savouring them like fine wine.

Here’s to many more sunny lunches, long dinners under the lights, and tables quietly set by the river. Come see what all the fuss is about.
