Makers Mill: Our Brand-New Cookery School & Creative Space in Holmfirth
For nearly a decade, Devour has been about much more than food, drink or the four walls that surround it.
Since opening our doors in the heart of the Holme Valley, we've watched strangers become regulars, regulars become friends and our little riverside restaurant grow into something of a community hub. A place where people gather, celebrate, learn, laugh and linger just a little longer than planned.
Now, we're delighted to introduce the next chapter.

Opening in August 2026, Makers Mill is our brand-new cookery school and creative workshop space, housed inside a beautifully restored 100-year-old mill, just over the road from Devour at The Dyehouse in Holmfirth.

More Than A Cookery School
While food will always be at the heart of what we do, Maker's Mill was created with a bigger idea in mind.
We wanted to build a space where people could come to learn something new. Somewhere that celebrates craftsmanship, creativity and the incredible independent and local talent we have here in Yorkshire.
Throughout the year we'll welcome skilled artisans, experienced makers and experts in their craft to share their knowledge through relaxed, hands-on workshops. Whether you're discovering a new hobby, looking for unique things to do in Holmfirth, planning a memorable date night, or searching for an experience gift in Yorkshire, Maker's Mill is designed to inspire.
Learn From The Experts
Food lovers can join long-time Devour resident Executive Chef, Carl Frost, whose AA Rosette-awarded cooking brings together the best Italian tradition and Yorkshire produce.
Expect immersive pasta making classes, pizza workshops, artisan bread making, seasonal cooking experiences and plenty more besides.
Alongside our culinary workshops, Maker's Mill will host an evolving programme of creative experiences including willow weaving, calligraphy, floristry, foraging, seasonal craft workshops and collaborations with some of Yorkshire's finest independent artists and makers.
Every workshop is led by someone who genuinely lives and breathes their craft.

Of course, this is still Devour.
Our classes will still encourage you to slow you down, conversate and bring people together around the table.
Most experiences include generous, flavour-led Italian dining inspired by the same philosophy as our award-winning restaurant. You'll cook, create, eat together and leave having learnt something new alongside people who, only a few hours earlier, were complete strangers.
It's as much about community as it is the experience itself.
